5 out of 5 stars Sooooo Dank   October 30, 2006
Worth the price for two songs, 'Nicodemus' (left off the original release?) and 'Ark of the Covenant', truly some of the very finest reggae ever made. All of it is.

5 out of 5 stars One of the Top 5 Reggae albums of all time, easily   May 7, 2006

Of all the classic Lee "Scratch" Perry produced albums of the '70s (i.e., Junior Murvins' "Police and Thieves," Max Romeo's "War Inna Babylon"), this is hands down the best. Believe all the hype you're reading in all the reviews on this site. Cedric Myton's angelic falsetto, Roy Johnson's vibrant tenor, and Scratch's insane, towering production (is that the "Reggae Cow" I hear?) join together to produce an epic work. Are you skeptical when you hear me use the term "epic" when describing a reggae CD? Listen and you will understand. This CD is 100% essential. As an addendum, if this whets your appetite for more Scratch Perry, it would pay for you to track down a copy of Perry's close-second best title, the Upsetter's "Super Ape" which is, inexpicably, out of print at the time of this writing.

Simply brilliant. Technically brilliant. Musically brilliant.

My friends agreed and wanted 'copies'. I said no. They went out and purchased their own copies.

Excellent

"We come with our culture...to enlighten the world". That about says it all for this massively inspirational "Jah Music" collection of superlative rhythms and lyrics. Lee Perry is more effective than ever in enhancing the feel of the music and adding his sound effects (what is that plaintive-mooing-cow sound anyway??) and the vocalists are certainly up to the task of bringing the Rasta creed of the lyrics to life in the most melodic manner imaginable. Every song is incredible...and the dub remix versions on disc number 2 all manage to expand on the originals. There are no weak spots, but the absolute highlights for me are the unearthly beautiful "Children Crying" (no matter how many times I hear it, I still feel chills) and the subtle, hypnotic spirituality of "Ark of the Covenant". This is an essential album for anyone who likes...music!
