If u can't get into Agustus Pablo, Grammy award winner Black Uhuru(the best selling reggae group ever!) Culture, Jimmy Cliff, Israel Vibrations, all legends of the genre, you have no business calling yourself a reggae fan, and furthermore should't even bother listening. This cd has played a major part in my musical world. I am now a Reggae promoter, I spend alot of my time going to shows and listening to all kinds of reggae, and I can honestly say that the songs on this disc all had a part in my career choice! If you love reggae, if you are curious about reggae, if you like island rythyms, or latin flavor, or good music in general, buy this CD! Some idiot payed to much in Boston, but you can get it here on Amazon for a great price, and trust me it's worth it!

My roots being Jamacian , I hear these beats and it makes me homesick!
I love this cd from top to the bottom.
Not a bad track on the cd.
If you like world reggae you'll love it.

I strongly disagree with the reviewer who bought it in Boston and hates it because all they like is Bob Marley. I love Bob Marley, but his music is not all there is to World Beat and it's not all there is to Jamaican Music. I have over 12 Putamayo CDs and love them - this one included - and many different Reggae CDs - Marley included. One of the cool things about the Putamayo CDs is that they provide exposure to a wide variety of artists and musical styles that the listener may not otherwise have experienced. If you have an open mind and want to experience different styles of world beat music, buy this and other Putamayo CDs and broaden your horizons!

Look, I'm not one to trash albums, but this album, with its current 5-star rating, is begging to be trashed. I have this album, I got it on a trip to Boston in a store of the now-defunct Eziba (if you're going to sell crap like this, you have it coming to you). The album costs way too much for what it offers, which is not much. There are a few tracks that have redeeming qualities, but by and large there's not much worth listening to here. I've tried to like this album, but I just have to face the fact that it sucks and that I'll just have to eat the $16 I paid for this in the first place.

Don't get the idea that I hate reggae. I love reggae, specifically Bob Marley and The Wailers (RIP Robert Nesta Marley, OM). I've been listening to Legend for nine years now (since I was in fourth grade) and it never gets old. This album got old in a hurry, and I gave it second and third chances. After all, what's a reggae compilation without Bob Marley? I loved how they tried to address this issue in the CD jacket. The words are priceless.

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT buy this album. If you want to hear some real reggae, go to the master. Buy every Bob Marley album before you buy this garbage. You'll be much, much happier.

I just love Putumayo music... This is one of my favourites cds. The music is completely contagious! 5 stars!!
